A payment terminal is a card reader at one of your gyms that staff can send a sale to. The customer taps, inserts, or swipes their card on the reader, and 1Club records the payment automatically. Owners and admins register the readers here; front-desk staff then pick a reader when they take a card payment.

Why use it

Without a connected reader, the front desk types the amount into a standalone card machine and then records the payment by hand, which invites typos and payments recorded against the wrong sale. A connected reader receives the exact amount from 1Club and settles the sale on its own. Typical uses:
  • A reader at reception - a padel gym registers one Stripe reader at the front desk, and staff charge court bookings and day passes on it from the till.
  • Two providers in one building - a gym takes cards at reception on a Stripe reader and runs a myPOS device at the bar. Both appear in the same list, each named for where it sits.
  • Spotting a dead reader before the rush - the front desk checks the list in the morning, sees a reader marked Offline, and fixes its power or network before members arrive.

How it works

Readers come from your payment providers. 1Club supports Stripe Terminal and myPOS terminal readers, and you can mix them across your gyms. Before you can add a reader, the provider has to be connected for the company that bills for that gym:
  • Stripe - connect it under Stripe. Stripe sells readers only in some countries, and in some of them only for one currency.
  • myPOS - connect it under myPOS and turn on its Terminal capability.
Each reader belongs to one gym, and it charges through the payment account of the company that bills for that gym. If you trade through more than one company, see Billing entities. Card payments taken on a registered reader are recorded against that provider’s terminal payment method, which appears in your payment methods list once you have an active reader for it.

Open the list

Go to Settings > Sales > Payment terminals. The Stripe and myPOS integration pages link here with a Manage button. If no connected provider can take in-person payments yet, the page says so and offers Set up an integration, which opens Settings > Integrations. If a provider is connected but can’t be used for readers, for example because Stripe does not sell readers in your country or currency, a warning names the provider and the reason. The list shows each reader’s:
  • Name - with its serial number underneath, when known.
  • Provider - Stripe Terminal or myPOS terminal.
  • Club - the gym the reader sits at.
  • Billing entity - the company its card payments settle to. Shown only when you have more than one company.
  • Device - the reader model, when the provider reports it.
  • Status - Online, Offline, or Unknown. Hover it to see when the reader was last seen.
Status is not refreshed on its own. Click Refresh status to ask the providers for the latest state of every reader.

Add a reader

  1. Click Add payment terminal.
  2. Give it a Name that tells staff where it is, such as Front desk or Bar.
  3. Choose the Provider.
  4. Choose the Club the reader sits at. Once you pick a gym, only the providers connected for the company that bills for it are offered.
  5. Enter the Pairing code or serial number:
    • For Stripe Terminal, the pairing code shown on the reader’s screen, or the serial number on the box.
    • For myPOS terminal, the terminal ID (TID) or serial number printed on the device. The device must already be on your myPOS account.
  6. Click Register.
If the provider refuses the reader, for example because a pairing code expired or the gym is missing an address, the reason is shown so you can fix it and try again.

Retire a reader

Open the row’s menu, choose Delete, and confirm with Retire. The reader stops accepting payments, and the payments it already took keep their history, so you can still tell which device took a payment months later. Retire every reader at a gym before you point that gym at a different company. A reader belongs to one payment account, so 1Club refuses to move a gym to another company while it still has readers registered. Register them again afterwards.

Permissions

Adding, refreshing, and retiring readers needs permission to manage organization settings. Staff who can read settings, billing, or the point of sale can see the list, which is how the till offers a reader to send a sale to. See Roles and permissions.
