When to use it
The kiosk takes routine arrivals off the front desk. A member never signs in on the shared device: booking and subscription flows finish on their own phone, and cases that can’t be completed unattended stop with a front-desk-required result, so staff only handle the exceptions. Each capability is a toggle you control per gym, so the home screen shows only the tiles that location needs. Typical uses:- Self check-in at a busy entrance - members scan a QR code, tap an access card, or enter their PIN, and the kiosk checks them in against their booking or membership. Staff step in only when, for example, a balance is unpaid or a plan has no uses left.
- Class check-in in the studio - staff open a class’s check-in screen and tap each booked attendee’s name on the roster.
- Booking a court on the spot - at a padel gym, a member picks a court and time slot from an area tile, then scans the displayed QR code to finish the booking on their phone.
- Plans on show in the lobby - members browse plans with pricing and session details, and scan a QR code to subscribe from their phone.
What the kiosk does
The kiosk home screen shows a tile for each enabled capability:- Check in - a member identifies themselves and the kiosk records their check-in.
- Classes - browse the day’s schedule and check in to a class.
- Plans - browse plans and subscribe on-site.
- Products - browse your product catalog.
- Area tiles - one tile per area type you choose to show, leading to area booking.
Setting up a device
The kiosk lives at your organization’s kiosk address (for example,your-org.kiosk.1club.ai). When only one gym has the kiosk enabled, the address resolves to it automatically; with several enabled, the URL includes the gym’s slug.
1
Enable the kiosk for a gym
Go to Settings > Member Apps > Kiosk App
(
/settings/member-experience/kiosk) and turn on Enable Kiosk for the
gym. Use Copy link to grab that gym’s kiosk URL.2
Open the URL on the device
Open the kiosk URL in the device’s browser. Chrome kiosk mode or iPad Guided
Access keep the device locked to the kiosk.
3
Sign in once
Sign in with a staff account. Only users with admin-portal access for that
organization can set up a kiosk: admin, manager, front desk, instructor, or
the owner. The device stays signed in afterward.
4
Pick a gym if prompted
When more than one gym has the kiosk enabled, choose the gym after signing
in. A single enabled gym skips the picker.
The person who signs in only provisions the device. Members and visitors use
the kiosk without any account of their own.
Member check-in
From the Check in tile (or a class’s check-in screen), a member identifies themselves. The kiosk previews what the check-in would use, shows a confirmation screen with the member’s name and the entry it will record, and commits it only after staff or the member confirms. An abandoned confirmation clears itself after 30 seconds.Identification methods
Which methods appear depends on your Access control identification methods and the kiosk toggles below.
See Access cards for the QR, card, and PIN credentials members present.
What a check-in resolves to
The kiosk mirrors the admin check-in rules and resolves the member to one of these entries:- Booking - the member has a confirmed booking whose check-in window is open at this gym.
- Membership - no booking, but the member holds an eligible membership for general entry. If the plan limits sessions, the confirmation screen shows uses remaining and the visit decrements it.
- Free class walk-in - the member walks in to a free class.
- Membership class walk-in - the member walks in to a class covered by an eligible membership.
When the front desk is required
Some cases cannot be completed unattended and the kiosk stops the member with a front-desk-required result. Staff handle these from the admin. This happens when:- The member has an active membership, but it has an unpaid balance, a scope that does not apply, or no uses left.
- The only way in is a pay-per-visit (direct payment) or an external program, which needs operator validation.
- A booking has an outstanding balance that must be paid first.
Self-enrolling a credential
When credential enrollment is enabled in Access control, a member can register their own access card at the kiosk. The member first authenticates (for example by scanning their phone QR), then taps or scans the new card to enroll it. If enrollment is turned off, the kiosk tells the member it is not available.Browsing and booking
Classes
The Classes tile shows the schedule by day. A member taps a class to see its details, then starts check-in from there.Areas and courts
Each area type you choose to show appears as its own tile on the home screen. A member picks the area and time slot, reviews the booking summary, and scans the displayed QR code with their phone to complete the booking in their portal.Plans
The Plans tile lists the plans available at that gym with pricing and session details. A member taps a plan, reviews it, and scans the displayed QR code to subscribe from their phone.Products
The Products tile displays your product catalog, grouped by category with prices, for members to browse on-screen.Kiosk settings
Configure the kiosk per gym under Settings > Member Apps > Kiosk App (/settings/member-experience/kiosk). A live preview on the left reflects each change. Enable Enable Kiosk for a gym first to reveal the rest:
The QR, access card, and PIN identification tabs come from your Access
control settings, not from this page. A gym with
only PIN or card enabled still shows the Check in tile so staff can reach
the check-in screen.
Check-in App
The Check-in App is a lighter, check-in-only screen for a tablet at the door. Members find themselves by name, QR code, or PIN and check in, with no booking or browsing tiles. Use it instead of the kiosk when all you need at the entrance is self check-in. Each app is turned on separately, so a gym can run either or both. Configure it per gym under Settings > Member Apps > Check-in App. The Quick setup guide at the top shows your Organization short name, which you type into the app when you set up a new device. Then:- Turn on the gym under Enable Check-in App, then click Copy to grab its check-in URL.
- Open the URL on the device’s browser (Chrome kiosk mode or iPad Guided Access work well).
- Sign in once with your admin account. The device stays on the check-in screen.
A live preview beside the settings shows the app for an enabled gym.
