# Social booking

> Turn your Instagram, Facebook, and other social profiles into a booking channel with pre-tagged "Book now" links, so every booking is attributed to the platform that drove it

Social booking turns your social profiles and ads into a booking channel. It gives you a **booking link generator** that builds a pre-tagged "Book now" link to your member portal or website, so every booking made through that link is attributed to the platform, placement, and campaign it came from. Unlike other integrations there is nothing to connect: it is built in, always active, and works even on the Free plan and the Grow trial.

The link generator adds UTM tags to your existing portal or website URL - it does not create a new page. When a member follows a tagged link and books, 1Club records where they came from, so you can see which platforms actually drive bookings.

## Overview

* Build a tagged "Book now" link for your **member portal** or **website** in a few clicks.
* Pick the platform (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, TikTok, WhatsApp, Google, X, LinkedIn, Pinterest, or a custom source) and the placement (organic profile/bio/post, or a paid ad).
* Optionally tag the link with a campaign name to group a promotion together.
* Copy the finished link and paste it into your bio, posts, or ads.
* Every booking made through the link is attributed automatically - no manual tracking.
* No install, no external account, and always available regardless of plan.

## Before you start

You need a published destination for the link to point at:

* A **member portal**, or
* A public **website**.

If neither is published, the generator shows "Publish your member portal or website to generate booking links." Publish one first, then come back.

## Generate a booking link

1. Go to **Settings > Integrations** and open the Social Booking card.
2. If you have both a portal and a website, choose a **Destination** (**Member portal** or **Website**). If only one is published, it is used automatically.
3. Choose the **Platform** you will share the link on.
4. Choose the **Placement**:
   * **Profile / bio / post** - an organic link in your bio, a post, or a story.
   * **Paid ad** - a link used in a paid social ad.
5. Optionally enter a **Campaign** name to group everything for one promotion (for example `summer`).
6. Copy the generated link with **Copy link** and paste it wherever you are sharing it.

## The generated tags

The generator composes standard UTM tags onto your destination URL so analytics can attribute the booking:

| Field | What it sets | Notes |
| ----------------- | -------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Destination** | The base link | Your member portal or website URL. |
| **Platform** | `utm_source` | The chosen platform (for example `instagram`). |
| **Placement** | `utm_medium` | `organic_social` for profile/bio/post links, `paid_social` for paid ads. |
| **Custom source** | `utm_source` | When you pick **Other**, type your own source (a newsletter, partner, or QR code); the link is tagged as a plain referral rather than social. |
| **Campaign** | `utm_campaign` | Optional grouping name. |

## Custom sources

Pick **Other** as the platform when the link is not really social - a newsletter, a partner site, or a printed QR code. You then type the source name yourself, and the link is tagged as a referral instead of organic or paid social.

## Where attribution shows up

When a member follows a tagged link and books, 1Club captures the source and attributes the booking to it. You can see which platforms drive bookings in the [Bookings by source](/analytics/operations#bookings-by-source) report (**Analytics > Bookings > By source**), where the `utm_source` on each booking is broken out for attribution. This closes the loop between what you post and the bookings it produces.

## Worked examples

**Pilates studio promoting a new reformer block.** A studio adds a **Book now** link to its Instagram bio tagged with **Instagram**, **Profile / bio / post**, and the campaign `reformer-launch`. It also runs a paid Instagram ad using a second link with the **Paid ad** placement. In analytics it can tell how many bookings came from the organic bio link versus the paid ad.

**Climbing gym running a partner promotion.** A climbing gym partners with a local outdoor shop. It generates a link with **Other** as the platform, types `outdoor-shop` as the custom source, and gives it to the partner to share. Bookings from that link show up attributed to `outdoor-shop`.

**Racket-sports club comparing channels.** A padel club posts the same open-day offer to Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, each with its own tagged link and the shared campaign name `open-day`. After the weekend it compares booking counts by platform to decide where to spend next time.

## Tips & best practices

* Use a consistent **Campaign** name across every link for one promotion so the results group together.
* Keep separate links for organic posts and paid ads (the **Placement** tag) so you can tell earned reach from ad spend apart.
* Point the link at whichever destination members actually book on - the portal if that is where booking happens, the website otherwise.
* Generate a fresh link per channel rather than reusing one everywhere, so each platform's contribution is measurable.

## Troubleshooting

* **"Publish your member portal or website to generate booking links"** - no destination is published yet. Publish a member portal or a website, then reopen the generator.
* **The link is not tagged** - if you leave the source empty (for example choosing **Other** without typing a custom source), the generator falls back to the plain destination URL. Fill in the fields to get a tagged link.
* **Bookings are not attributed** - confirm you shared the generated (tagged) link, not the plain portal or website address. Attribution only works when the member arrives through the tagged link.
